When I got to Hollywood I saw a b1g s1gn telllng f the personal appearance of Madam Rosemary Gates at the Otto Theater that very nlght so I decided I would go As soon as I saw Madam Gates enter the stage of that beautlful theater I knew she was my classmate Rosemary Gates After the per formance I went backstage to see 1f I could V1S1t her, and who should be 15 her dress1ng room wath her, besldes all the reporters, but the owner of the largest theater 1n the coun try, another of my classmates, Tom Otto When she had fln ished her 1Ht9TVl6WS w1th the reporters, Rosemary, Tom, and I went to a nlght club for dlnner I learned that Tom was not married, because he sa1d marrled llfe wasn't for him He liked belng lndependent and belng able to do as he pleas ed too much to get t1ed down to a w1fe and home Rosemary sa1d she had many offers for her hand, but she wasn't golng to get marrled unt1l she had gone as far 1n her career as she could, and of course untll she found the rlght guy She sa1d they were all nlce but not the type she nantedibr a husband 'hen we had f1n1shed a most enjoyable dlnner I had to say good bye and catch my bus back to Portland, Oregon to see Lorna Alldrldge When I changed busses at Reddlng, I was amazed to find that James Mad1SOU our SEUIOT class presldent, had chosen the occupatlon of dr1v1ng a bus At dlfferent stops we had long talks about the th1DgS that had happened slnce we had graduated ten years ago I found that James had marrled a glrl he had met on h1s bus route and had a famlly of one boy and one girl, and had h1s own home ln Klamath Falls wanted me to come and meet his w1fe and famlly, but I told h1m I couldn't because my t1me was becomlng lnn1ted, and I would l1ke to see the rest of our classmates As I got off the bus 1n Portland, I saw a bunch of re porters wa1t1ng at the doors I wondered what they were wa1t1ng to see Uhlle I was waitlng I thought I would call the paper offlce for whlch Lorna worked, and ask her to have dlnner wlth me Just as I was walklng by the group of re porters to the Phone I heard someone calllng my name When I turned around I saw Lorna 1n the mlddle of the reporters trylng to push her way out Durlng the course of our con versatlon I learned that she was stlll golng w1th Benton Blnder and was golng to be marr1ed 1n the very near future They had been puttlng off gettlng marrled unt11 Benton had h1s own cattle ranch 1n eastern Oregon and lt was dO1Dg well ' ' ' o . I asked her lf she had seen any of our cl ssmates lately, and she told me she and Benton had Just been ln Eugene to see J1m H rshberger It se ms as though he 15 a blg elect rlcal englneer on the est Coast He had marrled the glrl from Talent ne met when the ba ketball boys went to the 1n vltatlonal tournament at Ashland 1U h1s senlor year They have twln glrls who are only about two ye rs old Lorna told me I could see Lols Stewart 1f I would Just wait a few mlnutes, as she w s comlng 1D on the next bus When she arrlved and the reporters were all through talklng to her I a ked her 1f she remembered me It took her a l1t tle whlle to remember me when she dld, Lorna, Lols and I declded to go out to dlnner, s soon as Lorna had phoned 1n her story to the paper Durlng the course of dlnner Lols told me she was a natlonal lecturer of elementary school teachlng, and was m klng the l st of a serles of lectures, before she went b ck home to Elkton for a vacatlon She told me she was marrled to a professor of one of the col When we got ready to leave we met 1 larbe group of buslness men COm1Hg 1HtO the cafe Just as we were PO1Dg out The one who w s glvlng all the orders to the walter s emed to be the head of the group When he turned around so we could see h m, I lmmcdlately TCCOgHlZGd h1m as J1m Hersh ber er When he saw us he came over to talk to us He sald he had gust been aopolntvd presldent of the Fl9CtT1Ci3H'S Com mlttee of Oregon As the tlme w s runn1ng short, we told J1m good bye and went to the depot Je got there Just 1n tlme, for mylnm was ready to leave I sald hurrled good bye to Lorna and Lols and got on the bus that w s taklng me home I leaned back 1n the seat feellng very much refreshed at havlng seen all of my classmates agaln It made me feel Just llke I d1d that last school year of 'M9 and 'SO could go home now and remember my cl ssmates as I had last seen them ' 1- :- - 4 Cb ..
