We not only improved on our win-loss record from last year, but showed great improvement in our team play and individual skills. The girls played very well together and showed tremendous talent for their age group. They were an energetic, hard working group which accounted for their great improvement. The talent and competitive nature of these girls are such that they can look for a bright future if they work hard and work together. I foresee many good things!” Coach DeBoer Elkton SCORES Opponent 21 Castlewood 7th 7 25 Castlewood 8th 16 14 Egan 16 36 Colman 12 58 Colman 8 42 Rutland-Ramona 16 19 Deubrook 7th 13 29 Deubrook 8th 14 37 Hamlin 7th 16 33 Hamlin 8th 34 22 Lake Preston 38 44 Ramona 21 42 Flandreau 7th 23 32 Flandreau 8th 41 33 Rutland 8 25 Ramona 23 29 Clear Lake 7th 15 40 Clear Lake 8th 10 28 Estelline 7th 26 34 Estelline 8th 21 19 Lake Preston 7th 24 15 Lake Preston 8th 26 FALL 11

AtlU Beit, The, ViMC L y nrfiWi The goal of the 1986 Cross Country team was to develop into contenders for the conference title and win a birth to the state cross country meet at the regions. The girls' team received many setbacks during the year because of injuries. Yet this group of girls did achieve. They won the Flandreau JV meet, they finished 2nd to Arlington in the confer- ence and went on to qualify Jennifer Bauer and Sharon Lamp for the state meet. The boys team was led by three seniors: Brian Kramer, Steve Lytle, and David Fuhr. These three seniors have compiled over 4,000 miles of work in Elkton's Cross Country program. This year’s team placed 2nd in the conference to Deubrook and qualified as a team for the state meet. This marked the 15th consecutive year that Elkton has won a right to the state meet. The girls' team is young and will return a team that can, if they prevent injuries, contend for the state crown. The boys graduate three seniors; it will be from their leadership that next year's seniors can follow to lead next year's team. Coach Vincent
