EHS VOLLEYBALL Top Row: Coach Nancy Rolstcn, Kristi Anderson, Heather Rohrer, Amy Smallfield, Teresa Moore, Tiana Adams and Assistant Coach Terri Colbeck. The Elkton Volleyball Squad did not have a lot of wins this past season, but did start a trend for future volleyball stars. The first year team had to learn a lot in a short period of time, and did well in putting all aspects of the game in place. Determination, potential, and fundamental drilling were the keys to the season. As the number of matches played increased, so did the improvement on the court. The statistics showed steady improvement and individual statistics began to climb. For team totals, the Elks served 72%, having 27 ace serves for the season. Team serve reception was 53%, a little lower than one would like, but still a good percent for the first year. When the season came to an end in the Regional Tournament, the squad picked these awards to be given to their fellow teammates: Team Co-Captains for 1987: Amy Fuhr, Missy Lynn; Most Improved: Irene Gebhart, Tiana Adams; Spirit and Hustle: Missy Lynn; Sportsmanship: Amy Fuhr; Coaches' Award (given by coaches): Tiana Adams, Heather Rohrer. JR. HIGH BASKETBALL This is the first year of Elkton High School's SADD Organization. SADD, which stands for Students Against Driving Drunk, proved to be very successful, in both the community and school. Elkton had 8 SADD Representatives who planned the activities for all members in grades 7-12. The activities they had were a Christmas dance and a Spring dance with a VCR party. They gave away prizes from var- ious businesses in the community. Coach's Comments: The 7th grade team had a record of 9 and 3. They had enthu- siasm for every game they played and won many by one or two points. The 8th grade team won 4 and lost 10. Their losses were by 2 points or less. They never gave up, they have a never quit attitude. Our number 1 problem was scoring points. Their shooting will come with time and practice.
