The Celebration Of Winning District X '2 f i bl Defeating Deubrook 55-48 and then Sioux Valley 55-50 in a double overtime for the District X Championship was a dream come true. The whole town celebrated after two nerve-wracking games. A three mile caravan of cars met the player bus; and players, cheerleaders, and fans went to the Knotty Pine for steaks. Support for the Elks was fantastic the week of the tournaments. A sign on Main Street said it all, The last one to leave town, turn the lights out! The team participated in the Rutland Tournament for the second year and captured third again. In first round action of the tourney they came back to defeat Oldham in the second round, with Lynnette Landsman scoring 31 points. Girls receiving awards were: MVP, Lynnette Landsman, Best Offensive Player, Carol Claussen, Best Defensive Player, Rochelle Lytle, Most Improved, Trudy Hart. 18
