Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1977 volume:

THE WAY WE WERE 66 99 Mem'ries light the corners of my mind. Misty water color mem'ries of the way we were. Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind, smiles we gave to one another for the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple then, or has time re-written ev'ry line? If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me would we? Could we ? Mem'ries may e beautiful, and yet, what's too painful to remember we simply choose to forget. So it's the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember the way we were; The way we were. At the beginning of the season, Elkton looked forward to a long winning drive. Then the team was plagued by injuries and a low moral, which in the end caused their losses. Elkton also, joining a new conference was not familiar with the new teams which accounted for the uneven season. At left: Came to Doland to watch their team play. A nice sized revenge came when Elkton beat Lake Benton 81-70. (Lake Benton beat Elkton in football 22-16). It was really a pleasure to play basketball in the new gym. Of course, it was a big change to go from crackerbox to boot box,but the team got it together and played ball. Elkton also participated in the Conference Tournament. We lost the first two games and won the last. (That being Deubrook). But they had fun and gained much experience. Elkton,s season was an overall success. The total won-lost record added up to be 10-9. This year we say good-bye to five seniors, four ol which were starters. Good-luck guys.
