Hugh Rossolo Individuality is encouraged through education. A person must learn the facts, and gain an awareness of self-expression and confidence in order to form his or her own opinion and take logical action ' Dedication Focus on the Individual ... Who wants to be an 'individual' any- ways? Everyone knows an individual is just a weirdo who refuses to be normal and associate with the rest of humanity. Well, individuality is a bit more compli- cated than that. In the first place, we're all individuals to some extent-whether we want to be or not. In the second place, antisocial or 'non-conformist' behavior isn't necessarily individualism. We chose 'Focus on the Individual' for the theme of our yearbook because we feel that real individualism is an admirable quality. Simply put, real individualism is this: You be what you want to be, not what your friends want you to be, or your par- ents, or any one else. Because he demonstates and encour- ages real individualism, we have chosen to dedicate this year's Pohob to Hugh Ros- solo. Mr. Rossolo teaches American Govern- ment, Anthropology Contemporary So- cial Problems, Consumers Education, and General Math. He is also the advisor for the Student Council and the Drama Coach. Mr. Rossolo went to college at Washing- ton State University in Pullman, Washing- ton, where he was the President of his Fra- ternity. He is interested in theatre, he plays the trumpet in the Community Orchestra, and he enjoys playing golf and bridge. He also loves to travel. An individual, he sayes, is someone who can and will take the responsibility for his or her own actions. 3
