STATE CHAMPS m Spring Sports Left to right Brian Jevas, Lane Bitton, Mike Roche, Phil Neff, Jim Vietti, Last season the Elko Baseball team captured Mike Smales, Jeff Sutherland. EHS's first state championship title in quite a few years. The team started a string of state titles and they promise to be a strong con- tender for the Nevada AA state title again this year. The golf team also promises to be strong this year and EHS is hoping for one more state title from them. 130 It is sad to say goodby . . . but sadder still would have been to never have had the experience of saying “hello” to you my friend. 131 The theme of the 1980 homecoming was Could It Be Magic. It really was a magical week for EHS. The students were alive with spirit as they dressed up for each day of the week. The days were as follows: Mon.-Maroon White Day, Tues.-Animal House Day, Wed.-Glasses Hats Day, Thurs. —Inside Out Day, and Fri.-Champion Day. A bonfire was held Thursday and Friday an assembly was held. At the assembly the queen candidates were introduced. They were Angie Aguirre, Alisa Aguirre, Susan Claridge, Brenda Harry, and Dru Swendseid. The students then joined the car parade down Elko's main street. The Indians came on strong against the Eagles. The final score was Elko 36-Boulder 6. Saturday, Angie Aguirre was crowned queen at the 1980 Homecoming Dance. As the week drew to a close, EHS realized that the magic of the week would always be in their reflections. ELKO 36 BOULDER 6 Dru Swendseid-Attendant We were the children who sang in the morning ...
