As freshmen we struggled through the days with anxiety and apprehension; as sophomores we felt secure and had few worries; as juniors we were involved, but waited eagerly for the final steps of our 4-year journey. Today as seniors we gaze through the hazy window of time at our past achieve- ments, our hopes, our dreams, our victories, our de- feats, our frustrations, our tears, our smiles . . . left behind as a memory for us. Students were encouraged to show their spirit by dressing for each day of the week. The days are as follows: Mon.-T-shirt Day, Tues.-Hat, Boots, and Glasses Day, Wed.—Black Blue Day, Thurs.—Crazy Day, and Fri.—Ma- roon White Day. The annual bonfire was held Thursday night. At the assembly, held on Friday, Bonnie Burgess, Me- linda Tafoya, Deanna McDonald, Cindy Hartung, and Kara Oberhansli were introduced as the Queen candidates. The students then joined the Car Parade through Elko. The In- dians met the Lions on the 50-yd. line as the roaring crowd cheered their team to victory. The Indians beat the Lions 41- 6 as Homecoming Week drew to,a close. Saturday, Deanna McDonald was crowned Queen at the Homecoming Dance, and Homecoming 1979-1980 became a memory. I Indians 41 JSions Bonnie Burgess, Attendant Melinda Tafoya, Attendant Kara Oberhansli, Attendant Queen Deanna JflcQonald Cindy Hartung, Attendant TNC LIONS WILL LOOSC Winter Wonderland was the theme of this year's Winter Rally. The days of the week spelled Pride with Mon. —Pin Day, Tues. —Rival Day, Wed.—Imagination Day, Thurs.-Dazzle Day, and Fri.-Elko Day. This year each class was given a hall to decorate, and each organization was responsible for decorating their sponsor's room. The assembly was held on Friday. Todd Drake, Cory Prunty, Todd Griswold, Mark Lupercio, and James Sargeant, candidates for King, and Kara Oberhansli, Belinda Harrison, Bonnie Bur- gess, Deanna McDonald, and Melinda Tafoya, can- didates for Queen, were introduced. The game with Incline proved to be thrilling, and the crowd was frenzied as the two teams raced down the court. In the last seconds of the game, Elko won a narrow vic- tory over Incline, 65-64. Cory Prunty and Bonnie Bur- gess reigned over the winter Rally Dance. Ring and queen Fisherman's Wharf, the Pacific Ocean, and the Golden Gate Bridge were among the sights seen as the Band of Indians traveled to San Francisco to perform for the crowd at the 49'ers vs. the Seattle Seahawks game. jKjiezrs $ ji The sounds of bustling traffic and the cold formality of skyscrapers greeted the small-town students of the Elko High School Band of Indians” as they invaded the Big Apple. The band flew cross-country to march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. While in New York, the band saw a Broadway show, toured Lincoln Center, visited the UN, and climbed the Statue of Liberty. The tired marchers and their weary chap- erones were welcomed home with pride. r JCSJlVCtX eji x WJldJ1 CAST 1st Escort Jordan 2nd Escort Messenger 7013 Michael Smales Joe Pendleton Nurse Tony Abbott Julia Farnsworth Mrs Ames Bette Logan Workman Ann Max Levene Susie Williams Mike Lefty Doctor Passengers Crowd Georgina Jefferson Kristin Miller Director 136 sec cyC Dff spring sports GOLF: Lt. to Rt.: FRONT ROW: Lane Bitton, Michael Roche, Jimmy Vietti, Mike Smales, Barry Banks, Monte Rider, Mr. Roche Bush —Coach BACK ROW: Pete Cavender, Randy Cook, Brian Jevas, Dennie Bass, Natthan Duncan.
