world seemed wrong, Throughout its din I heard the song, You can begin again. The beginning of a new day is the beginning of new hope, new courage, new opportunity. We can't live through every day reacting perfectly to circumstances that arise, but if yesterday you were not the person you would like to be, remember that today is a chance to begin again. UNITY The production of this POHOB is solely for you, the students of Elko High School. Thank you's need to be relayed to so many people. Thank you, Mr. Williams, for the artwork on the cover; Mr. Swendseid for drawing the unique division pages; Bob Cavender, for taking time to sketch the school; Julie Reynolds, for the beautiful poem; Mr. Clark, for taking all posed pictures; the POHOB Photography Staff, for developing all candid shots; Tammi, for doing a super job on the advertisements and for sticking by me when the road got rough; to Mr. Smith for all the advice; and to you, the students, for being excellent subjects. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, we are all beginning a new, adventurous life into the future. We are not ending our life, but beginning anew. The road will be different, rough at times, but we can and will make the best of life. The whole world is at our fingertips, but it is up to each and everyone of us to reach out and take hold. Take one day at a time and live it to the fullest, but always look toward a brighter future. Always remember: Today is the first day of the rest of your life. May all your dreams come true. PRINCIPAL’S OIESSAGE Graduation from high school is one of the great events in the life of an individual. Yet, while it marks the achievement of a successful program of training and education, it is not an end; but in a sense a beginning. It is a milestone in your progress toward better citizenship and a better life. Your generation inherits a world far from perfect and with uncounted pitfalls, yet a world alive with the energy of progress and change with opportunities on every hand. These opportunities are accompanied by responsibilities. It is your challenge to preserve the liberties that citizens of this country have been blessed with for 200 years and which have made possible the education you have received and which provided opportunities that are yours—opportunities limited only by your ability, integrity, and ambition. Mr. Robert Kerth Principal Mr. Royal Orser Vice-Principal Mr. Ernie Hall Attendance Officer Mrs. Beck Secretary Mrs. Hill Mrs. Rackley Secretary Secretary Mrs. Rowe Secretary faculty 6
