I God Shed His Grace On Thee. . . The United States is the world's most powerful nation. We are leaders in trade, living standards, agriculture, education, scientific discovery, and industry. We offer liberty and independence to all of our people; we attempt to beam the living light of democracy to all corners of the globe. But today we must fight for the very existence of our country against those powers which intend to destroy and enslave us. As the youth of America, the burden of leadership will soon be lashed to our backs. Our actions will determine the destiny of generations of future American citizens; we must make the crucial choice between independence and slavery. We cannot ignore the crises which face us in the world today: Viet Nam; Berkley, California; Harlem, New York; Austin, Texas. We must struggle against Communism, subversion from within, racial unrest, and crime; or free America will sink under their weight, and a new, even more terrible plight will settle on this continent: the loss of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. 2

Dedication WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 1967, dedicate ourselves to America, to the responsibilities of leadership that we must assume. We will, to the best of our abilities, work to keep America strong, free, and watchful over sister nations. We will remember that WE are America’s hope, and that by our actions AMERICA is judged. Strengthened by patriotism, courage, and love, we will forge a trail through the jungles of hate until we reach the horizon of world peace.
