lilnhuh Sclence INCE. the foundmg of the Elko Coun ty Hrgh School a great deal of emphasls has been placed upon the teachmg of sclence especially smce l9l 7 when the openmg of the new bulldmg wlth rts splendldly equlpped shm laboratorxes provlded excellent faCllltlCS for the study of thrs branch of learmng The Blology Class thls year was made up of Sophomores unlors and Seniors It was a small class but the enthusiasm shown by its members brought lt to a hngh standard A field trlp was made ln the fall of the year as the result of which many blologlcal specxmens were brought back to the study hall A full set of experlments have been completed by thus class Mr Anderson boasts that his Chemrstry Class has the highest scholarshxp average of any class of 1ts slze ln the school The tech nlcal slde of chemxstry has been emphasrzed and an effort has been made to glve to the students tramlng ln sclentlflc m thods of thought and observatron that will be of value to them whether they contmue the study of the subject further or not The class has had at lts dns posal what IS probably the second or thxrd most complete stock of chemlcals ln the State besides an unusually complete equipment of apparatus It has made good use of these facllltles thrs year l'laVln0' completed some twenty more than the required number of expert ments The PSYSICS Class was composed exclusively of Semor boys While the stock of apparatus at hand for the use of thls class IS not as extenslve as that avallable for the chemists no Important experx ments have had to be omltted Several new pleces were added durlnfr the course of the year Including a Hartl Optlcal Disc and a wireless set for demonstratlon Mechanics of sollds Hulds and gases sound heat magnetism electricity and llvht were covered as thoroughly as time and the mathematical preparation of the students permitted I6 0 r X . . .
