l x f x SENIORS' FAREWELL The hour of our departure has come, and we go our sep arate ways into new environments. Like plants that have be come root-bound in a pot, we, too, must be transplanted into aplace of greater opportunity for development and expansion because itis anatural step if we are to attain maturity. Even so, like the tender young plant newly re-set, we wilt tempo rarily from the change. We weep! These were the greenyears, the carefree hours splashed with laughter, close friendships, day dreaming, first loves and what we often regarded as unbearable hardships. How ever, these will pale before the demands of the future,- the heartache, and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to-. Nothing shall be the same again. We leave to Elkins High School our good accomplish ments that may serve to forward her endeavor. We charge our successors with the duty to maintaining equal respect for all, a sincerety of purpose, and the value ofa genuine smile. We hope for the capacity to accept hard lessons and exacting instructions in whatever walk of life we may enter This will measure our success. You say that your school days are over? Why, Lad! they have only just begung Go forth and count the sands of the strand, Or look on the blazing sun. When its last red ray shall tremble At Father Time's caress, The Master, still, will be keeping school, 'Twill be only the first recess. When the earth is worn to its axis, And when all the seven seas Are numbered among the things that were: You are still in your A, B, C'S.
