CLASS HISTORY Four years ago, in 1952, another Freshman class enrolled in Elkins High School to begin its course of study. Class advisors were: Miss Harshbarger, Miss Harris, Mr. Moore, and Mr. Powers. Class elections were held, and our class officers were: President ...................... Heck, Bill Isner Our Sophomore Year proved to be a successful one. The students began taking part in many school activitiesg we sponsored the noon movies and the Inter-Class Tournaments. Mary Lou Daniels, Dorothy DuBose, ......................Williamlsner At the beginning of our Junior Year we lost Mr. Powers as a sponsor and gained Mr. Gibson. This year was full of study, fun, and much added responsibility. We sponsored a Donkey Basket- ball Game, class pictures, and the candy store. The arrival of our class rings marked an im- portant milestone of our high school days. Ten members of the class were inducted into the National Honor Society., We brought to a close our years' activities with the Junior-Senior Prom which was held May 20, 1955. The theme was How Deep ls the Ocean? With the help of our sponsors and Mrs. Lee Stout, the gym was transferred into an under-ocean wonderland. Class officers were: President ..... . Sandra Phillips, Mary M. Markle, Evelyn Wasmer As Seniors we felt that our goal was near. During the first semester we had charge of the candy store. On December 9, 1955, we presented our senior play, Seven Sisters. February 22, many of our seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society. With approaching Spring, we enjoyed Senior Tacky Day. The Baccalaureate Sermon was delivered May 275 The Senior Banquet was held May 283 Finally Commencement May 31, 1956 brought to a close our school days in Elkins High School. The play was directed by Mrs. A.E. Fiorentino. In the FirstAct, Mitzi, the mischievous nineteen year old sister, was expelled from a convent because she attendedaball. As apunishmentfor this her mother reduced her to the age of sixteen and made her dress as a child., She had to remain this way until her three older sisters were married. Shortly after her punishment began, she met Ferenz Horkoy, the man with whom she had danced at the ball. Horkoy disguised himself as her cousin and promised to help her get her sisters married. Theyfinally succeeded in getting Katinka, the eldest sister, married to Colonel Radinany, the uncle of a stupid young baron in love with Katinka. lnthe Second Act, Mitzi and Horkoy were successfulin getting the second sister, Sari married to a handsome self-sufficient man of thirty or so, by the name of Michael Sandorffy. In the Third Act Ella, the third sister, married Baron Gida. This released Mitzi from her punishment, and so she married Ferenz Horkoy.
