A BOARD OF At the head of the schools m Randolph County there IS a board of educatxon composed of hve members elected by pop ular vote From Ellcms we have Mr Albert Mr Shreve and Mr Rrflle from Mull Creek Mr Downs and Dr Bos worth Under the supervxslon of thes men there are ten hrgh schools flve of whlch are hrst class 1n rank There IS a total of 1515 hrgh school students rn the county 780 of these go to Ellclns Hrgh School Randolph County has been fortunate to have such a board of educatlon as thls one durmg the trymg nmes through whlch schools have recently passed Though often handlcapped by lack of funds these men have managed to mam tam ln our county the high standards of education that lt has had lh the past H EDUCATION Peg Many t1mes the1r problems have been real ones more than a year ago the hngh school bulldlng at Plclcens was destroyed by flre Now a modern well equtpped bumldmg has been constructed there Plans for a consolldated school at the Tygarts umform course of study for the hlgh schools of the county and a new muslc program for grades four to elght are out tandlng among the xmprovements made 1n the currxculum We regret that Mr Shreves term ex prres 1n uly we know that the schools are losmg a good friend however we are sure that Mr Fred Chenoweth who wrll take hrs place will have the same mterest tn the welfare of the schools of Elkms and Randolph County The Class of 1937 appreclates what thxs board has done for E H S lbetr.
