There's a Tiger stalking outward, From a jungle dark and grim, A jungle grown quite dear, somehow, Though it almost conquered him. There are myriad stony paths ahead, Stretching oler the mountains high, As the Tiger leaves the jungle Where his dear old comrades lie. Four years lived he in the mazes Of the jungle's twisted ways, And now he leaves behind him All haunts of former days. His days of play are over, Years of toil lie far ahead, And he starts his long, long journev With a feeling near to dread. Though hels headed toward the glezunings, That are of the world a part, He will always keep the jungle ,Mongst the treiisures of his heart! -RUTH VfOI,VL1R'I'0N.

l X 'fv' s r f- fi. ' 1 . .., He TIGER Class History Q i FRESHMAN YEAR-IQ25-IQ26 Almost four seasons ago a flock of about one hundred and seventy yearlings trotted into the arena of the old jungle. Frightened were they but still full of ego. That same day, after having been shown the ways of the jungle they met again in the arena, conferred, and emerged into the sunlight with Arlton Hooker, great leader, Doran Brown, little leader, Geraldine Trickett, record keeper, and Sophia Haven, guardian of bones. The old jungle was not large enough for all the packs that roamed its paths, so in March all journeyed far to a new hunting ground where the trees were higher and the trails wider. Happy were they in their new home. All through the year the baleful, hungry roars of Shere Kalm, the tiger, echoed through the jungle, and the yearlings trembled with fear at the awful sound. ln the contests they were defeated, but they did not fare for they had given one of their number to the tribe which defended the name of the jungle in the con- tests held in the great city. just before the annual period of rest set in they held a great pow-wow under the trees at Haddixes. GPRS SOPHOMORE YEAR-I Q26-1927 A year passed and the two-year-olds who had been the yearlings of '25 looked down disdainfully at the yearlings of '26, Now they thought that they knew all the secrets of the jungle. Alas for the folly of the Very youngl They were soon disillusioned. They conferred this time high in the trees of the arena of the new jungle and selected jack Parmalee, great leader, Arlton Hooker, little leader, Velma Durrett, scribe and keeper of bones. Shere Kalm, the Tiger, grew very thin and emaciated that year and very nearly died. ln the great contests the yearlings were successful. ln the spring another great feast was held on a lonely hill top at Valley Bend. The spoils were many. QJQ JUNIOR YEAR-1927-1928 Two years have passed since we have entered into this wild and furious jungle of mysteries and many more to learn about. Beginning the third year of life in the jungle we elected another leader, Arlton Hooker, jack Parmalee, little leader, Geraldine Trickett, record keeper, and Velma Durrett, guardian of bones. This was a very busy year for the juniors in this jungle as we had Stunt Night to sponsor. After we had Worked very hard, to our amazement Stunt Night was a huge success. ln May the three- and four-year-olds met in that wild and ferocious jungle of Arnold Hill under the trees, but woe no more than did we begin to eat when wild torrents of rain began to fall and we had to hustle and get up a very high hill before the path would be- come too dangerous. Although with this mishap, we had a wonderful time. Thus ended our third year in the jungles. 2 6 we-QI 1929 15-at-U
