THE SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Man's destiny depends upon the acquisition, use and enjoyment of knowledge in confronting his universe. This is a basic philosophy of education and is based on the premise that if schools are to meet the needs of individuals and society they must allow for the multiplicity of society's needs. This desire for developing our knowledge, understanding and skills is very evident in our school as shown by the large percentage of our graduates who are continuing their formal education beyond High School. Although we are still faced with teacher shortages and lack of teaching tools much progress has been made in equiping the students to participate and contribute in today's society. The last two years are very gratifying to me. The co-operation of faculty, patrons and student body has been outstanding. The preparation and presentation of this year's ELK marks in pictures and words a history that all of us will cherish and treasure in years to come. Thanks for a job well done to Mrs. Paschal and the members of the Annual staff are in order. They have put in many hours of work to make this book possible. 4
