'J 7 4 Alfffp! ea -, K The season started with 39 boys reporting to practice under the leadership of Coach Garten assisted by Kenneth Fowler. They slowly worked into shape with a lot of bruises and sore muscles. Then came the big night, Springfield, which the Wildcats beat 48 to 7 with Reazin, Witcher and Cochran doing the scoring. Satanta pulled a surprise upset with a 20 to 7 victory over the Wildcats with Reazin run- ,,,, ,I5 ning a beautiful 45 yard scarnper for the only score. The B team played Cvuymon, being beaten 48 to 13. , The Wildcats, with a bad case of furnblelitis, bowed to Sublette with a score of 26 to 12. Bennett and Reazin passed to each other for the two touchdowns. The B team edged out Satanta 13 to 7 with sophomore Michael Cochran doing the scoring. Then the Wildcats returned home for two games after a disastrous ff of 4. road trip in which two good teams were played. A , They lost to Texhoma 47 to 7 and to Plains 43 to x J O. The team never gave up even though they were outweighed. 73 Meanwhile the B team had fied Hugeren Z6 to N :- -5- . 26 in a thrilling display of fast scoring. They lost ?- V' to Guymon 44 to 6 but they gained much needed experience. jf' Q! z 4, M f . ff 'ii The Wildcats, packed with a lot of drive and spirit, broke an eight-year jinx by beating John- son 32 to 25 with one of the wildest finishes seen on the hpme field in years. The visitors took the lead early in both halves but the Wildcats came fighting back with scor- , x ing done by Jim Riley, Eldon Reazin and Rex Studebaker. lg., X Beaver edged Elkhart 19 to 14 after the Wildcats had the winning :Epi touchdown called back.
