JOHN W. HOLDEMAN A.B., A.M. Prinripal Among the many things that one can say to a graduating class, there is none more important than this: Keep an open mind towards the various problems that you will have to face. You will never know all there is to know about anything, so keep your ear turned toward every teacher, ever listening for a new truth or for a new application of an old one. Things do not just happen in the great business of life. Lindbergh is said to lead a charmed life, but I am inclined to believe that the charm is in his knowledge of the laws of aeronautics and the laws of mechanics. Yet he does not know all there is to know. Even now he is experimenting and studying how to develop a new type of plane that more adequately embodies the laws held secret by the elements. Other examples can be cited in different fields of activity and thought, but knowledge and understanding are always the basis for keen performance and successful achievement. So again 1 say, keep an open and inquiring attitude of mind, in order that you may discover, and apply, the laws existing in the task which you have to perform, and thus insure a successful future.
