014404 si! 5 ' ' On Qeptember 4 1940 a group of noisy, lost children entered high school not knowing where, when, or what they were to do The class, being regarded as a lot of noisy Kzds for there were only 63 of us finally settled down and elected Mr Mayfield for our sponsor and Jack Spencer for our president During this most exciting and unforgetable year, the class elected lavon Murdock for candidate of the queen's race The Freshmen won 4th place and were we pleased' During their Sophomore year, the class elected Miss Robbins as sponsor and Maxine Chaffin, President Fannie Jo Warren was our queen minee for this year and we fell on our good ole standby' fourth place The class was settled now for a year of great success We did not forget our Uncle Sam either, for during the year a Scrap Drzve was held end the Qonhs won first place' The Junior year was an outstanding one for us We elected Mrs Durrett for our sponsor and David Nivens, President The class proved talented by carrying on the school paper, The Elkhorn Later came the Junior plav, Aunt Samanthy Rules the Roostu in which the cast did a swell job Then came the unforgetable Junior Senior banquet which The crownirf event of our Senior year was the election of Seniors Nevard Ledbetter as queen and Carl Cooper as king of the Hallowe'en Carnival The Senior play, HVy Vother 1n Lawn directed by Mrs Durrett was a great success The cast included Billy Quarles, Nevard ledbetter, Farl Cooper Marion Hortman, Fannie Jo Warren, Melba Hendon, Dora Hortman, Gwendolvn Iinl, lune Greer and Oran Gentry As this goes to the press, the Junior qenior banquet is yet to be held Due to the war, the qenior class 19 not planning on the usual trip We, the 9 nior class of '11, wish to expr ss our deepest and most sincere thanks to our superintendent, principal, faculty and Board of Trustees for their guidance and cooperation given us through the last four years OUIDA MORRIS l V- -1 1 , ,-, s , H ' IV-- - , t -- f J I Q L. no 5 ll I-- ll Il ' ll went over with a Boom!
