OUTSTANDING EVENTS OF 1943-44 The N43-44' term has been an exciting one for E. H. S. Crowded into nine short months have been activities we will always remember. Remember back in September on Monday the 6th when the doors of the old brick building creaked open for the first time in three months to admit some 480 students? The football season started with a bang. The Elks were winners over Groesbeck with a score of 7 to 0. The final game with Huntsville was equally as exciting The Queen's race was a delightful affair in whicl everyone took part Candidates were chosen from each class Ry hard work and co operation the Seniors won with Nevard Ledbetter, who reigned over the Hallowe'en Carnival This affair occurred on October 30, 1943, supplying everyone who attended with plenty of laughs and oodles of fun The Armistice Day program was g1ven in the form of a radlo program The program dealt with the historic characters of our country and our modern day radio commentators The Thanksg1v1ng program was given November 24, and then a two day holiday was en1oyed by teachers and students Another outstand1ng event of the year was an address to the entire student body by Capt Mitchell Parks, former Plkhart football coach The senior play, Vy Vother zn Law was directed by Mrs Durrett, the Senior sponsor, and it was said to have been a glorious success The Christmas season was crowded with manv interesting events The Cantata and pageant were successful Then came the best liked event of the year Fhristmas holidays' The pupils came back to school 011 DUPH9d as students strove to learn what thex thought was important t s o s o re the Junior play and Junior Senior banquet are still on the calendar UNA WNITLTV Al hIN'IE 'AVV4Ga L IT X Y H Tl . with only one worry...V1dmterm Fznals.
