For the athlete, ECC offers intramural basketball and football. The teams are sponsored by the different student organizations and indepen- dent groups. Each Friday afternoon or night the teams compete against each other. The winner will represent ECC at the Mountain Dew Festival at Prestonsburg. SCENES AROUND ECC Some of the most popular events of the day at ECC are jogging or playing a game of hearts in the lounge. Others use the lounge for watching their favorite after- noon soap operas or for last minute cramming for exams. Still others find time to “make time , while others settle lovers’ quarrels outside the lounge doors.

34 The Student Congress in one of its weekly meetings discusses recreational equipment which it will purchase for use in the new Student Center. Oh my aching head! What a job to be Student Congress President. STUDENT CONGRESS The Student Congress serves as a link between the ad- ministration and the student body. It consists of three sophomore representatives, four freshman representa- tives, and its officers. This organization is concerned with the voicing of student opinion and seeing that it reaches the proper channels. The Congress is also actively involved in school activi- ties, sponsoring dances, various publications, and provid- ing an intramural sport program. The Congress also takes an active role in the community by sponsoring the Concert Lecture Series and by encouraging students to contribute to the community through participating in the Red Cross Bloodmobile Program. MEMBERS: Steve Atcher, Lois Keplinger, Charlie Catlett, Mary Gilpin, Carmen Thomas, Dave Harmon, Don Mullins, Brenda Rock, Anne Brown, Tom Rogers, Jeanie Lemance, and Gene McClure. Student Congress Advisor is Mr. Michael B. Coyle, and Mr. Bill Gene Smith is the Coordinator of Student Activities.
