The Sciences The boundless opportunities to ex- olore and develop the component divisions of the field of science pose a challenge to many of the col- lege students. Every day new discoveries open un- known doors into different aspects of the natural elements which have existed since the beginning of time. Although as broad as the universe itself, the sci- ence subjects may be divided into the three special- ized areas of biology, chemistry, and physics. Biology provides a knowledge of the structure and functions of animals and plants. The composition and transformation of substances is within the scope of chemistry while the physics student learns of physical compositions of his sur- rounding environment. The mysteries of resistors, inductors, and vocuHm tubes and their function in radio and television sets are explained by Prof. Hubert M. Custer, instructor in physics, to his class in Practical Electronics. The cultivation of individual Christian attitudes and personal convictions is one aim of a college education which is intended to de- velop every phase of the student ' s life. Future church leaders and laymen are enabled to continue their studies of the Scriptures and philosophical thinking from the fundamental knowledge provided in Bible classes. The singing of the great hymns of the church, read- ing of the Scriptures, and prayer in the many reli- gious services instill the desire for worship and per- sonal devotion. Experience gained from cooperation in planning programs, participating in worship services, and dis- cussing personal ideals and convictions will prove invaluable to future service and leadership. Knowledge of fundamental medical practices gained in her campus course in medical techniques prepares the medical secretary for a position in a physician ' s office or hospital.
