J ' M 2 Since practically nothing new is created unless it has as its foundation such prin- ciples as help forin the rich background found in our schools, education can be regarded as apprenticeship not only for life, but also for work. The modern mechanisms and ideas which we should cite as symbols of the progress of our contemporary world, were first made possible through the knowledge gained by their originators. just as knowledge then is the parent of progress, so the school, an educational in- stitution which molds character and prepares young people for the future, is the parent of knowledge. Within our own school, education is progressing to meet the increased demands haf our times. From the one-room school with its limited facilities, to the modern estab- lishment of,today, with its increased advantages, we have come a long way. Our school is serving to develop the resources and to shape the future of both society and of the in- dividual. It is for that enormous service that we make the dedication of this book. Page 5

menace: fion XY'e. the Class of l958. dedicate our yearbook to Progress through Education. As .1 childs interests mature from the destructive to the constructive, illustrating the effects of education upon his life. his search for knowledge causes him to probe further into unknown fields. Through research, education broadens and increases the knowledge of our environment. XY'ithout education there would be little or no progress, for, in order to progress, someone must first originate an idea which later efforts can expand and perfect. The basis for all knowledge arises from the pastg progress, based on education, extends into the future. And education must keep advancing. If for one moment it should be static, in that moment it would become obsolete.
