'K .X . , 3, Review of Season, Boys Basketball If ,, ' The Cyclones opened their basketball season in December under the supervision of Ez: . . Q Coach Brown. Having lost only one man from last year's lme-up, four of the regular men '3 . ' replolited for psjctice. also, there were several reserves of last year that soon fell in line J V an ooked go from t e start. it At the beginning of the season the men who had seen service the previous year met and ix L elected Maynard Ryan, Captaing and Frank Grindstaff, Manager. , Our irst game was played with Jacksboro, a strong club, before Christmas. As Eliza- A bethton belongs to the big live athletic conference most of our games were in it. NVe won-every 5 ' 1 game played in the regular season except one to Kingsport and two to Tennessee High. The t other games played were with Virginia High. , , . ' E ' In the Sectional Tournament at Johnson City were beaten by Washington College in our first game, there died our hopes of winning the Tournament. iv' -Q On February 26th, by mutual agreement of the Big Five met at Johnson City and played a Lombard tournament. A Silver Loving Cup was given as a trophy to the winning team. : Eligabethton had a score of 14 and Kingsport a score of 7, thus we won the trophy by a score of . ' o la The starting line-up of this year was generally-Ryan, ,Hart at Guard, Bowling at Center, Q ' ' and Shotm and Edens at Forward as substitution was frequently made by Grindstaif, Hathaway, Sf '- ' Meredith saw service in a majority of the games. - . 0 J Coach Brown's system is absolutely against 'any one man starring and he succeeded in that .P this year. What he desires is a smooth working machine of live men. ' X -' The support from the school and town this year was the best so far. We expect it to be H better in the future as basketball has just started to develop in this section.
