sf R!! at as ta' ye N!! 31 L 4 ,L -.. I Jie ievgicafian CZQJA emini4ce.4 . Gil As we stand at the threshold of our graduation, we, the dedication class feel pensive upon seeing the dawning of dedication day for the new Elizabeth Seton High School. A surge of pride-the pride of being the class which has seen the fulfillment of the dream of an enlarged ESHS-rises in each senior. A tinge of sadness-the sadness of leaving Seton just as her new glory begins -touches each senior's heart. Remember the day of the big snow when many of us couldn't make it up Capital . . . how Mrs. Tschippert dried and pressed the snow-soaked uniforms of those who made the hill . . . our Belle Hop which we attended in mufflers, mittens, woolen sox, and galoshes because of the ice and snow. We shall always remember Mr. O'Toole's serenades to blushing Setonians . . St. Patrick's Day when everyone was Irish. How we prayed to Mother Seton for everything-to settle the steel strike- to see that the men stayed on the job-to hold back the rain until the roof was finished. And this she did! Ten minutes after the roof was sealed, the rain came. What excitement the day the chapel windows arrived! From Room Five we watched them being placed, section by section, making the picture of Mother Seton complete. Our tours of the new building led us into the cloister. We actually saw the sisters' bedrooms. What a contrast to the convent in the old school! Re- member that day of days when Bishop Dearden came and we met him in the new building. These days at Seton will soon be past for the class '53, but the true Seton spirit will remain ever with us. The pioneer class dreamed of the new ESHS: we have seen the completion of that dream after years of praying and planning. Yet we feel some bond with the first class because we too have watched Seton grow: they, the old, we, the new. I

I Qde C-!a44 0 ,52 5012! 4 . The Class of '52 may be prejudiced, but we feel that our senior year was the most exciting of the eight that Seton has known. September of our senior year brought with it the day that We all had awaited anxiously-Ground breaking. We felt some regret because we would not have the distinction of graduating from the new building. Still, we were happy to have had the privi- lege of being the last class to graduate from the old school, our second home. And what a home it was with assemblies on the stairs, and class plays, and glee club concerts at Brookline School, and on and on! The next few months after groundbreaking were hard on academic pro- cedure. Algebra equations weren't nearly as interesting as the arrival of steam shovels. Rooms Four and Five, with their special construction scenery to look out at, were becoming more popular every day. We almost cheered the day that cranes lifted the first steel beams! Finally, the foundation was completed. The day of the Cornerstone Cere- mony was here at last! Our class was singularly privileged to act as honor guard. As usual with most Seton affairs, the rains came, but our spirits were not dampened a bit. We easily imagined that Our Blessed Lady in the quad- rangle was shedding tears of joy! Now the new building has taken shapeg our dream has become a reality. May the new Elizabeth Seton High School hold the hearts of the students as the old building held ours! . l nv---f-'Q-A
