Foreword FOREWORD When thinking of the events that have been greatest in our lives, we will without doubt remember the peace and happi- ness that we have had at dear S.T.C. The years that we have spent on the campus have been years of happiness-whether in class or on campus. For many of us this has been the final year; for others there are years to come, but whether this has been a first year or a last year, it has been an important year in our lives. The year of 1959-60 has been a year of growth — intellectual, physical, social and spiritual. All phases of college life have played an important part in this growth. Although it is impossible to pay tribute to all who have con- tributed to this growth, may we pause to pay special tribute to those who marked each individ- ual ' s personality with unlimited efforts and dedicated service. Through their patience, guid- ance, understanding, devotion, friendliness and loyalty our teachers have played a significant role in our development. The effectiveness of teaching is not in name or through praise, but in the lives of others; therefore to our teachers we give our appreci- ation and gratitude. With much work alternated with pleasure the staff presents to you this 1960 Pirate. May it keep fresh the memories of years spent at Elizabeth City State Teachers College.
