1 I In the year of our Lord 1948 when the leaves of autumn were falling helter sl'elter mell into the doors of Elise High The high school building was not an entirely new enviroment for some of us because we had been in it while in the eighth grade But we had to learn never to skip classes and to always be on time for them We were a happy group of boys and girls, out for all the fun possible, and to get by with everything we could. Also in the year of '48 our coach, Mr, Hackney, became principal. Mr Isaacs did a fine job as our advisor. To serve us for the freshman year, we hither and yon over the campus: we, as a group of bright-faced freshmen, also 'fell pell' elected Billy McAnulty as President, Mary Sue Farlowe, Vice-President: Louise Kennedy, Treasurer: and Jackie Pendleton, Secretary. Our freshman year ended all too soon. Our sophomore year we began with a new teacher, Miss Betty Thompson, Spanish and English teacher. This year we were all seasoned veterans in high school. We elected Louise Kennedy, President of the class and Billy McAnulty, Vice-President, with Robert Welch as Treasurer. It seemed as though we had just started school when we found that we had been promoted to the rank of juniors. Our junior year was one that we will never forget, With Miss Thompson as our teacher we presented a play called Honey in the Hive, to make enough money to give the seniors a banquet, The Junior-Senior Banquet, we were told, was one of the best ever presented to the senior class. The officers were Billy McAnulty, Presidentg Nancy Snider, Vice Presidentg Clara Maness, Treasurerg and Billy Moore, Secretary, Our senior year passed by more quickly than any of our other school years. That year we had Mr. Evans as our sponsor, We elected Clara Maness, Presidentg Nancy Snider, Vice-President: J. A. Moore, Secretary: and Horace Farlowe, Treasurer, Each of us tried to remember all of the days during the year, but that was impossible, The juniors gave us a wonderful banquet, and before we knew it we were walking down the aisle, getting ready to go out into the world. Some of us were going to continue our schooling by attending colleges and universities, In conclusion we would like to say that we have enjoyed our years at Elise High and thai it will always hold a special place in our hearts, as will the friends that we made while we were in school, We will form new friendships as we go our separate ways, but we shall always remember and cherish our friends and classmates at Elise High School, f QR if J , g g Xgxvaill as I3
