Choir Reaches Out in Ministry More than drums and guitars make Elim’s choir warm and exciting. Under Brother Stuart Dahl’s direc¬ tion, the members are encouraged to come together in the unity of God’s love. Walking by the dining room be¬ tween 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on a Sunday morning, one sees the choir in worship, in prayer for one another, and in prayer for the morning service. An hour is set aside on Monday and Saturday nights to practice songs for the Sunday service and for special occasions, such as Mis¬ sionary Convention or the Christmas Cantata. Open to all who attend Elim Gospel Church, the choir helps to bring students and non-students together as a family. In addition to ministering in song, the choir is a vital instrument in leading the congregation in wor¬ ship and into an awareness of the presence of God. Be¬ yond the doors of the Elim Gospel Church this group reaches, even to the Catholic Church in Lima for a Sun¬ day morning mass and to the other town assemblies all participating in the Christmas Community Musicale held in the Ivan Spencer Tabernacle. A twelve member ensemble, known as the traveling choir, extends the outreach of Elim’s ministry during Easter vacation as they go to New York City, the north¬ eastern states, and Canada.
