Elim Gospel Church Becomes Community Church Pastor Saied Adour and Family. Elim Gospel Church is most commonly thought of as a “student church”; a ministry whose purpose is a place of worship for the Elim campus family. It is just such a concept that we are now seeking to correct. Within a seven-mile radius of Lima there is a population of well over 15,000. This discovery along with the revelation of the fact that even Spirit-filled people within the area think of the church as simply for the campus family has resulted in a new thrust into the community. A mailing piece explaining the purpose of Elim Gospel Church has been sent to every home within the seven-mile radius (nearly 6,500) as well as an excellent tract entitled “We Are Your Neighbors.” Also every effort has been made to create an atmosphere invit¬ ing for the whole family. Both nurseries, toddlers and infants, have been properly organized and staffed. Children’s church during the sermon is now a regular part of morning worship. Wednesday mid¬ week service which was non-existent previously, is now functioning as a “Family Night” service. Graded teaching sessions are provided for virtually every age group in the family from children to adults. A Sunday morning choir adds great blessing to that service, while a teen choir has caused the evening service to take on new life. Many of the campus youth now prefer to stay at Elim Gospel rather than going off campus for church. This is new! The dent made in the community is only slight. However, Elim Gospel Church is looking forward to a great harvest in their Jerusa¬ lem.
