5 N'n-1-., is Clear skies permit outdoor graduation C lear skies on June 6, 1976 permitted outdoor graduation ceremonies for the 231 Elida seniors. As the sun went down over Kraft Memorial Stadium there was embarrassment as only half of the stadium's lights worked, but undaunted officials decided to carry on as usual despite the inadequate lighting. Denny McGraw delivered the vale- dictory, while Tim Skamfer received the honor of being salutatorian. Reverend Donald Patterson of Allentown United Methodist Church preached the Bacca- laureate sermon. Graduating seniors from the Champion- ship baseball team presented Principal Gerald Smith with the State trophy. Class president Jeff Thompson presented the class gift of a new activities board to be placed in front of the school. After the presentation of diplomas by Board President Mr. Robert Slechter, the 231 seniors sang the Alma Mater. Kent Cannon gave the benediction and the Senior High Band played the recessional, thus ending the 83rd commencement exercises of Elida High School.
