“Senior Histor This is radio station EHS ' e have just received the exciting news tnat a group of colonists have reached the mystic land, INTFLLIGENZA Here is your favorite commentator, Mr Tiger, with the nNews behind the news In September of 1951 a group of very inexperienced colonists met in Elgin High School to organlze for their journey to INTELLIGENZA With Barbara Medberry as leader the following people started forth Elaine Anderson, Lucille Crain, Joan Friederich, Beverly Howard, Joann Gisleson, Janice Lantz, Reva Medberry, Marilana Ogle, Nora Rainey, Dalene Shaffer, Marilyn Schaer, Greta Falb, Mary Ann Schaer, Nancy Larson, Donna Meinhard, Beverly Muehlethaler, Robert Gilbert, Charles Medberry,Donald Peters, Eugene Medberry Stanley Capper, Richard Clark, Dwight Gruver, Stanle Lehman, Bobby Medberry, and Glen Snyder After a day of Hconoitioning' by the senior colonists, they packed all their supplies and started down the strange hlghway toward INTELLIGENZA At the first crossroads Evelyn Orth and Marjorie Johnson joined the voyagers and Bobby Gilbert took a road westward The brave colonists completed the first part of the journey very successfully and with Stanley Capper to lead them they pioneered onward As Carol Rorie had joined the group, the crew now numbered twenty nine. x The road was becoming more and more difficult, but the colonists refused to give up They elected Beverly Howard as their new leader and began the thlrd part of their journey Because help was needed, Mavis Bachman and Paul Stillman joined the troop The enlarged caravan soon found themselves in a very dense jungle and, as if from nowherq a few hundred natives descended on them The natives weren't very savage and they promised the colonists their freedom if they would perform for them So, the highly talented and industrious colonists set to work and produced a play entitled nForever Albert H This proved so hilarious that the natives became weak with laughter and could no longer hold the colonists in captivity At the edge of the jungle Carol Rorie and Paul Stillman took a different road Meanwhile, the colonists had been journeying up and up until they found themselves almost fl golden stars called 'Class Rings Each member kept one as a good luck token Next an enchanting side trip was taken into the land of 'Moonlight and Roses where a ....v..,. ln , sumptuous banquet was held ,J sl From these newly attained heights the shining city of INTELLIGLNZA could be seen and Beverly Muehlethaler led them forward on the final part of the journey Frances Larson and Bobby Gilbert joined the troupe and Mavis Bachman, Donnie Peters, and Richard Clark departed A time zone was entered near INTELLIGENZA and the crew NTurned Back the Clo ku Csenior class playl for the benefit their families and friends There was an exciting flurry of activity with banouets, parties, and side trips, as the colonists brought tneir noble journey to a close On May O, 1955, they were presented their keys Kdiplo ssl to the gate of the golden city They had attained their goal INTELLIGWNZA xxxxxswm S9 44 7 et f rzfazf ob A xx xxx N 'Q X 'xr' XXX- ff H I yr- ,Q .
