S jnperintennlenfs engage We live in a wonderful community depicted on the map being prepared by the superinten- dent. The rolling land is ideal for farming, dairying, and ranching. There are also excellent job opportunities locally and at Fort Sill and Lawton. Recreational opportunities are outstand- ing with the nearby lakes, mountains, forest game reserve, and also the urban types of enter- tainment available in Lawton, Norman, and Oklahoma City. The new lake on Cache creek will bring fishing, boating, and water skiing almost to our door. We are looking forward to a 4-lane highway from Lawton and Fort Sill which will probably meet a new turnpike from Oklahoma City just on the west, edge of Elgin, The most important thing that makes Elgin a desirable place to live and work is its people. Nowhere can one find a finer, more friendly group. The Elgin Methodist and Catholic churches are beautiful and well attended and the largest of our church congregations, the Bap- tists, are working on plans for a beautiful, more adequate church and Sunday School building. These are some of the reasons that make Elgin teachers work hard to keep their jobs year after year and why Elgin School graduates fare well wherever they go. A good community is the base upon which a school must grow and we here at Elgin School have to work very hard to live up to the standards set by our community. 8 43.pcA..fu ?mfwv
