Qgenlinzrtinn fl' - ,. CDM Bur DR. CHESLEY M. MARTIN The senior class of 1960 wishes to dedicate this annual to Dr. C. M. Martin, who was elected by the American Medical Association as Family Doctor of the Year. Dr. Martin grew up on a farm in South Carolina and attended a country grade school in that state. His pre-medical college work was done at Wake Forrest, North Carolina, and he later studied medicine for two years at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. He com- pleted his medical studies and received his degree at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1915. He came to Elvin in 1916 and has served as Elgin's doctor for 44 years. During this D period he has delivered 2,500 babies in the Elgin area. He has served 31 years on the town board of Elgin and 42 years as chairman of Elgin's Board of Education. Dr. Martin works 12 hours a day, six days a week and will come day or night whenever you need him. He is one of the few rural doctors who will travel miles to care for his patients. These and many other reasons are why Dr. Martin is Elgin's No. 1. citizen. 5
