THE UPERI TE DENTS MESSAGE Your Superlntendent 1S qu1te often grat1f1ed to hear compllmentary reports about our school Our school has not been developed by any one person or any one group of 1nd1v1duals but IS the result of workmg together Students contr1bute the most towards a school s reputa t1on and a school IS best known by the achlevements and personal conduct 1n publlc of 1ts stu dents Parents teachers executlves and schoolboard members work to mfluence th1s ach1eve ment through thelr management and fac1l1t1es for good school work Thus any compl1ment passed on the school honors the ent1re commumty We are 1n the mldst of a very fme school year at Elg1n The class of 1959 set an 1mpor tant ach1evement record w1th a percentlle grade of elghty f1ve wh1ch 1S much above the f1fty percent1le grade and average of Oklahoma schools The Skelley Award represent1ng the outstandmg award at the Tulsa State Fa1r was won by M1k1e Lodes th1s year and th1s brmgs the huge trophy to Elgm for the second consecut1ve year The 1957 58 boys basketball team won the county conference d1str1ct and reglonal trophles and the ent1re squad was graduated Th1s year s boys are Just developmg experlence but as a tournament t1me arr1ves they are a team any school would be proud of Glrls' basket ball was mstltuted for the f1rst t1me 1n many years and have won the Caddo Comache Inv1ta t1onal Tournament defeatmg 1n the fmals a team w1th a season record of twenty w1ns and one loss Other departments of the school are Just as strong but do not enter compet1t1on wherem the1r relatlve strengths can be ascertamed I beheve th1s extraordmary good school year IS the result of the followmg 1tems Good attendance cheerful att1tude good c1t1zensh1p and a serlous effort to study by the student body A co operatlve able and hard work1ng faculty Q Interest 1n all school act1v1t1es by parents and patrons 4 A well rounded school program of studles wh1ch mcludes four umts of math four umts of sc1ence f1ve umts of Engl1sh four umts of Vocat1onal Home Econom1cs four umts of Vocat1onal Agnculture four un1ts of Busmess Educat1on two un1ts of Industmal Arts Hlstory Drlver Tra1n1ng Mus1c and athlet1cs Thank you for a happy school year for the faculty and school board and we g1ve you our smcere best w1shes for now and all the future 1' E!
