ADMINISTRATION Mr. Alexander Though September, 1972 found us moving into a building not yet completed, we made the necessary adjustments as we saw things im- prove from week to week. We grew to appreciate more each day the spaciousness of our physical facilities, and the innovation of re- source centers, and various visual and listening aids, which made a contribution to our learning situation. We relished the opportunity afforded by our fieldhouse to again meet as a total student body in our assemblies. Frozen hair became a thing of the past as we en- joyed the convenience of our own swimming pool. We have a larger building and a larger student body, but our real growth must be on an individual basis. I am reminded of the cham- bered nautilus, a deep-sea mollusk, whose shell has many chambers. The shell of the young nautilus is shaped like a small horn. As the animal develops, the shell grows, too, and the nautilus moves for- ward as the shell grows. As it builds, it always lives in the outermost compartment until at length it is full-grown and casts off its shell. The poet has said it like this: Build thee more stately mansions, Oh my soul, As the swift seasons roll- Leave thy low-vaulted past - Let each new temple, Nobler than the last, Bind thee from Heaven with a dome more vast, Till thou at length art free, Leaving thine outgrown shell By lifeis unresting sea. The individual, like the nautilus, must grow or die.
