The necessity for providing the additional 1200 to 1500 new students each year involves planning years ahead to make sure there are adequate buildings, staff, and material to take care of that growth. The new Elgin High School is the result of a board issue submitted to the voters by the Board of Education. With the authoriza- tion ofthe voters to proceed, the Board hired architects, called for bids on the specifications, and awarded the contracts - and our new school became a reality. ln a constant attempt to keep the educational opportunities at the high level traditional with Elgin Public Schools Cand Elgin High in particulary the Board of Edu- cation is the final authority on all matters of school policy. Any innovative programs that promise better education are reviewed and, if found valid, are implemented in the districts educational program at the proper level.
