Fall brought hockey, tennis, archery, riding and volley- ball. lt also brought three hundred members of the general assembly attending the state meeting of the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Safety Conference to Elgin. Demonstra- tion classes in Indian dancing and modern dancing plus a symposium, highlighted the day. Then came the winter season, meaning: basketball, tumbling, modern dancing, square dancing, ping-pong, bowling, bad- minton and table tennis. At last-spring returned and young girls' fancies lightly turned to an assortment of events, Softball, golf and track occupied the thoughts of our fair ones. Riding, tennis and volley- ball again appeared and were loudly welcomed. As a grand finale came Play Day, o bi-annual con- clave of Chicago suburban schools, held at Elgin this spring. Schools competed with color teams. And so another year of sports rolls away, a memorable year .- at fun and activity. A sport lor every girl and a girl for every sport is Miss Wilda Logan's motto. Time for the Annual GAA Sports Review Broadcast! This is station WGAA bringing you the 1950-51 Sport Highlights direct from the newsroom of the Girls Phys- ical Education Department. This year has really been a very successful and eventful one. Activities were head- ed by Delphine Joerns, president, assisted by Dolores Kaplan, vice-president, while Margaret Lawrence kept the minutes up-to-date and Sandra Chaplain wrote notes. Willene Steele managed finances. Officials who saw that all games were played fair and square were Miss Wilda Logan, Girls' Athletic director, and her co-sponsors, Mrs. Phyllis Apple and Mrs. Gene Stoerz- bach.
