THEODORE SAAM W, L, GOBLE Sll1J6'l'i7lf67IdF'IZt Principal Administration Elgin is very fortunate in having such fine heads of the schools as Mr. Saam, the superintendent, and Mr. Goble, the principal. They are continually striving to mal-ze the time spent in school more interesting and fruitful for both the teacher and pupil, and to them should go much of the credit for the smooth running of our schools. Back of them stands the Board of Education, composed for the year 1932-33 of: Edwin F. Gardner, President, R. E. Abell, B. C. Bronson, P. R. Chaddock, R. VV. Hawthorne, L. H. Leitner, H. F. Mattocks, L. W. McGill, R. R. Phillips, Dr. O. C. Prideaux, P. E. Schickler, and F. A. Ziegler. NELLIE DRYSDALE T. A. LARSON ADAH PRATT S. C. MILLER Advisers This year, the advisory staff is composed of two advisers for the girls and two for the boys. Mrs. Drysdale and Miss Pratt are the girls' advisers and have their office in 201, where they meet with the individuals and help them to settle their problems. The boys, advisers, Mr. Larsen and Mr. Miller, may be found in Room 318 when anyone is in dif- ficulty or wishes some kind of help. The advisers give a valuable service in establishing better relations between the teacher and pupil, and in preventing many failures by arranging for special help.

CARRIE K. VVILLIFORD LILLIAN HURVITZ Univcrsitics of Chicago. llli- University of Illinois. nois, and VVisconsin. Library The heart of a school a high school library is sometimes called. Here centers a continual flow of interests in various lines of school work and contacts with many outside activities. It is a magic place where one may be carried back to any period of history and meet famous people of any age. Through books one may know, intimately, people whom he could not expect to meet personally. Treasures of literature are here: books of science, travel, shopwork, music, home management, business training, or art. This year more students than ever have made use of the library, although conditions have been inconvenient because of limited space, funds, and staff. HELEN L. Ravi-:TT AUGUSTINE M. GOTTA R. N. Health The school system now employs the full time of three nurses to help look after the health of the many pupils. They have regular inspections of all of the students in both the grade schools and the high school, and if necessary recommend further medical attention. In this Way many illnesses are stopped before they have a chance to become serious. The nurses' ofliee is on the First Hoor of the high school. and there is al- ways someone there to give help when it is needed. The Health Staff thus ren- ders a valuable service in the prevention of disease and the rendering of First aid. f' sg.
