Bibb ALL For the E C S leliow Jackets, the season of 1900 51 proved to be the mo t d sagpointinr in quite a few vears The nember of both the Varsity and the Tunior Varsity teams were very green The only thlnp that the past basketball season has provided has been a vast magnitude of experience Eldred seemed to play it's best game gainst it's be t opponents e vould lose to a rather wean team like Youngsville by 06 or 30 points, and lose to a comparatively go Q team like Saint Joseph's by 10 or 12 points ihe boys have learned a lot and should be very much improved next year Tri? FOOTBALL In the fall of 1950, for the third ed a six man football team wlth only for the team, we, as usual, had a green know how and a lot of courage successive year, Eldred field three lettermen from 1949 out undermanned outfit with little In our first game of the season we met Roscoe, the powerful, de fending champs of the Western Sullivan League Eldred lost 30 19, but came nearer to beating them than did any other team in the league Our next game was Nlth Livingston ranor The Yellow Jackets held their own for two periods, but in the late stages of the second quarter they lost the services of left end, Roger Veber, who was to remain out for the remainder of the season This casualty combined with the factors that Eldred was outweighed and undermanned resulted in the ultimate loss of the rest of the games of the season Defense was our big problem, but it may be seen by the scores that we had plenty of scoring punch GPIES POSITIONS Eldred r he t Eldred Eldred Eldred Roscoe Livingston Manor Jeffersonville Callicoon Halfback J Weschrek, Fullback L Sander quarterback Fisher 24 Right end N Will1ams,R Reiser Left end R Weber, J Byers THICK This year for the first time in about ten years, the Lldred Cen tral Qchool is going to have a track team, and it looks as if we might be pretty successful at it We're just getting in training for it now and the way these fellows can run it doesn't look as though any school in this league will be able to beat us Russell Lldred is a regular speed demon, with Jim Roberts, Alvin Kestler, Wayne Wells, and John Neschrek running close behind him It's going to be some track meet believe me We've also got Charlie Wilson, our muscle man throwing the shot put, and I thinkthat with his muscles behind him, we'll very possibly take this also Butch Williams is jumping high jump and pole vaultirg He is very good, t o Kestler and Weschrek will compete in broad jumping, and Jim Roberts, Alvin Kestler, and Donald Paulus r1e olng out for the one half mile Alvin Kestler will probably go out for the mile run Did you ever watch a 440 relay race? well, if you d dn't, 1t's about time that you did It's really fun No doubt about it, and Eldred Central has one of those, too Don't let anyone tell you diff erently Well, in all we've got good prospects Don't you fellows let us down o O . f ' 0 'L - o 1 ' ' I. o - - 1 o - - o Y .5 . 50 19 -- .
