Everyone seems very happy that school has begun. -Back to the grind. -Grinding again. -State tests began this A. M. Knock on wood! No school in afternoon too hot. -More tests) Too hot for school this afternoon. -Labor day--Yipee! No school. -Had a movie today. -Everyone is studying hard. -Hot lunches are being served again this year. •Freshman initiation starts this week. Look out Freshmen! •Had a movie. The Seniors started torturing the Freshmen. -The ring salesman came today. Von a baseball game at Farson. -No initiation today. The Freshmen had to go to Ottumwa for a hearing test. -All the Seniors have shiny shoes today. I wonder why! Could it be because of the Freshman initiation. -Initiation party for the Freshmen. Wow! --Had a movie today. Played Batavia here in baseball and won-course. ■O’Day the magician came for a program. Very good. -Played Selma here and won-yes, again. -Eldon had a good baseball team this year. • The Sophomores had a hayride in the gym. Darn that rain. •First round of sectional tournament. We won. -Had a movie. Semi-Finals of sectional tournament-a victory again. -Why must there be days when nothing happens ?????? -Finals of Sectional tournament. We lost-too bad but a good try. -Back to the usual grind. •Everyone is studying hard to keep off the unsatisfactory list. Been doing a pretty good job. -Had a movie. Elmer Marshall gave an assembly program. •Played Douds here. -Iowa State Conservation Truck came. Oh, those snakes. -Six week’s tests. Cross your fingers! -The Junior Class had a hayride-no rain thank goodness. -Had two movies today. -Some of the shorthand students are rather worried, Mr. Wylie says they will be writing 60 words per minute by the end of the semester. Good luck. -Had silent film strips on democracy, -The Juniors are working hard on their class play which is to be given on October 25 and 26. -Basketball practice started tonight. -Lee Kailors gave an assembly program. -The chemistry class seems to be having quite a vacation-Mr. Bruns has a sprained foot. -Had some movies today. Got report cards and everyone seemed well pleased. -The Seniors went to Ottumwa to have their pictures taken. Good luck Seniors. They also are going to go through Morrells. -The Seniors got their proofs back today. Not bad!! -The Juniors are working on the stage getting ready for the class play. -The Juniors’ matinee was this afternoon. It was good. -Junior Class play entitled ’’Tattletale”. -Junior Class play was a big success! -Had a movie on ‘‘Your America!” The Senior Class had a hobo party. Went on a wiener roast and then returned to the schoolhouse for games and dancing with re- freshments. -Had some silent film strips on how to spell and increasing your vocabulary. No school these days because of a State Teachers’ Convention. -Had a movie and ah assembly program. A negro speaker from Memphis, Tennessee. -Still grinding away! -Had a movie today. -Both boys’ and girls' basketball teams are working hard to get ready for the first game. -Everyone seems to be feeling pretty chirpy the last couple of days. -The Freshman Class is having a skating party tonight. -First basketball game tonight. Play Selma—Good luck! -The girls lost their first game, but the boys won a victory. -School is pretty empty today. -Play Troy here tonight. -Girls lost and boys won. -Our first out-oi-town game is at Agency tonight. Looking for a large crowd to cheer for our team. -Both boys and girls lost their games with Agency. Better luck next time teams! Had Thanksgiving program this afternoon. -Thanksgiving vacation. -Had a movie today on “Health of Our Skin”. Basketball game with Libertyville. -Girls won - like fun! But the boys did. -The Senior Class is working hard on the Gay Nineties Revue. -Basketball game with Douds tonight. 52
