January 25- The High School had a new seating arrangement today. (Oh, dear, look where I sit!) 26- Had a substitute teacher, Miss Moore. 31-Annual pictures were taken by Mr. Fitch. F ebruary 2-Homecoming King and Queen candidates were chosen from each class. (Congratulations, kids!) 6- Game with Douds. 7- A popularity contest was given. 12- The high school was entertained by the Boy Scouts. (Aren’t they cute ?) 13- No school. No electricity. 14- Game with Troy. 15- Junior High game tonight. 16- Civic Music program today. Didn’t go; bad roads. Boys lost a game to Bloomfield. (Boys, try harder. I’d like to see Mr. Burns eat his hat.) 19-Homecoming, and we played Eddyville. Dorothy Jo and Boddy Glotfelty were chosen king and queen. 21- Had a movie on “How to Study’’. 22- Boys play the Sectional at Douds with Keosauqua. 23- Six weeks' tests. Oh, dear. Paul Thomas born to Mr. and Mrs. Tom South. 26- Junior Community skating party. 27- Junior high game at Farson. 28- Annual goes to press. March 1- Girls go to see State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines. James Elliot program today. 2- Junior High game at Blakesburg. 5-Boys' and Girls’ Junior High Tournament at Farson. 9-Freshmen had a dance for whole school. 13-F irson Junior High game here today. 19-Seniors had a skating party tonight for the community. April 10-Program by John Cress and Stella Carney. 16-Sophomore skating party. 27-Bookin's Dance for the Seniors. May 3 4-The dates planned for the Senior play. 10-Freshmen have their community skating party. 18- On this day the Seniors bid good old E. H. S. goodbye for a week. Junior-Senior Banquet. 19- Alumni Banquet. 20- Baccalaureate at the Methodist Church. 23- Eighth Grade Commencement. 24- Tonight is the night the Seniors bid the Eldon High School goodbye forever. But the years they have spent in the school are long to be remembered. We sincerely hope everybody enjoys school as much as the Seniors of 1951, for they truly were a jolly group of twenty-one. ‘Bye, and thanks for listening to the happenings of the year. Remember: ‘‘Some people haven't a mean bone in their bodies except in their heads’’. 56

November December January 1- Hello. Another month. Seniors chose caps and gowns. 2 3-No school. State Teachers' Convention. 6- Movie. 7- First basketball game of the year with Batavia. Roughl Lost both games. 8- Everyone is gloomy today. 10- Senior meeting to elect a D. A. R. contestant. 14- Basketball game with Packwood. 16- The Seniors were assigned their jobs on the annual staff. 17- Basketball game at Eddyville. 19- (Sunday) Mr. and Mrs. Walter Christensen became proud parents of a son, named Daniel Craig. 20- Kids went to Ottumwa to Civic Music. 21- Girls played Iowa Success and boys played Melrose. 23 24-No school. Thanksgiving vacation. 27- Game at Batavia. 28- Seniors' name cards came. 29- The Home Ec. girls served breakfast to Mr. Wylie and Mr. Burns. 30- Game with Agency. 4- Bobbie Roberts Musical show presented. 11- Two movies on Sugar . 12- Game at Packwood. 15- Game with Farson here. The Junior Typing Class had a party for each other. 18- Seniors chose the company to print the annual. 19- Boys had a game with Melrose. 20- Sophomores and Juniors had a going-away party for Wayne, Art, Boddy, and Buddy who are leaving for service. 21- Grade school presented Christmas program. 22- Exchange of gifts. Geel Look at the funny gifts we received. Oh, yes, we got nice ones too. Guess what happened? Santa Claus was here to hand out the gifts. Surely was a jolly fellow. School dismissed for Christmas vacation. 2- Back to school after a long vacation. Do you know what? Every- one seems to be happy about it! 5- We lost a game to Agency. 8- Had two movies today. 9- We played Troy and lost. (What's the matter kids; need some Hadacol.) 10-Pictures were taken today of whole school. Look, Man, does that look like me? 11 12-Semester Tests. Be brave, kids. 15- Tests over. We can stop worrying now until the report cards come out. Be brave and face it. 16- E. H. S. had a visit from the state nurse today. Wash clean every- body. 17- Report cards today. (Just a friendly tip to the kids who were dis- appointed in their grades: Get busyl) 18- Wapello County Tournament at Ottumwa. Oh, dear, the boys lost. Better luck next time. 19- Seniors had their graduation pictures taken. ,23-Game with Donnellson. 24-Seniors got their proofs back. They are pretty good. 55
