Howdy, friends! Here comes the E. H. S. calendar happenings for the year, so please lend me your hearing aid or your good ear and I will read to you all the hap- penings for this year. .. Calendar.... 28- School begins and everyone gives everybody a good looking over. 29- The classes elected sponsors. 30- We elected officers and everyone had his fingers crossed. The Seniors begin to plan the Freshman Initiation. 31- Brain derby started; the state tests given here. Everyone is knocking on wood or his neighbor’s head. 1-Tests are still going strong. 5-School is well under way, at least for the Freshmen; for they paraded the assembly this morning. 6 7-The Freshmen surely are a peculiar looking bunch. 8-The finals for the Freshmen tonight-the big Initiation will take place. Eldon boys lost a victory to Keosauqua baseball team. 12-Had a game with Birmingham here. 15- Had a baseball game at Douds. Lost 19- Game here with Selma. We won! 20- Whee! No school. Teacher's meeting. 21- School is back in session. 26-The Seniors selected class pins, name cards, and thank you cards from Josten's today. 28- Seniors sponsored a skating for the community. Everyone had a good time. 29- Back to school after a night of fun. (Everyone is yawning). 30- We have struggled through one month. Wheel What a time! Bertha to Glenn (in a stalled car) Why, what a coincidence! It just so happens I have a gallon of gasoline in my handbag. Blonde-“How are you doing in your race to matrimony? Brunette-’T think I'ln on my last lap now.” October 2-Nothing happened today, tomorrow, or the next day. 5- Played baseball at Batavia. 6- No school. Teachers' meeting.. Happy group of kids at E.H.S. today. 9-10-Waiting for our report cards. Sad faces. 11- Received our report cards what a sad and happy group. 12- Movie on Girls' Basketball Tournament. 13- Freshman Hayride. More fun. 16- Seniors wrote to a group of Photographers. 17- Movie on Milk. 19-Juniors preparing class play. 24- Photographers came. We decided on Harry Fitch. 25- Junior play matinee. 26 27-Junior Class play, “Don't Take My Penny”. 30- Sophomore skating party. November December January 1- Hello. Another month. Seniors chose caps and gowns. 2 3-No school. State Teachers' Convention. 6- Movie. 7- First basketball game of the year with Batavia. Roughl Lost both games. 8- Everyone is gloomy today. 10- Senior meeting to elect a D. A. R. contestant. 14- Basketball game with Packwood. 16- The Seniors were assigned their jobs on the annual staff. 17- Basketball game at Eddyville. 19- (Sunday) Mr. and Mrs. Walter Christensen became proud parents of a son, named Daniel Craig. 20- Kids went to Ottumwa to Civic Music. 21- Girls played Iowa Success and boys played Melrose. 23 24-No school. Thanksgiving vacation. 27- Game at Batavia. 28- Seniors' name cards came. 29- The Home Ec. girls served breakfast to Mr. Wylie and Mr. Burns. 30- Game with Agency. 4- Bobbie Roberts Musical show presented. 11- Two movies on Sugar . 12- Game at Packwood. 15- Game with Farson here. The Junior Typing Class had a party for each other. 18- Seniors chose the company to print the annual. 19- Boys had a game with Melrose. 20- Sophomores and Juniors had a going-away party for Wayne, Art, Boddy, and Buddy who are leaving for service. 21- Grade school presented Christmas program. 22- Exchange of gifts. Geel Look at the funny gifts we received. Oh, yes, we got nice ones too. Guess what happened? Santa Claus was here to hand out the gifts. Surely was a jolly fellow. School dismissed for Christmas vacation. 2- Back to school after a long vacation. Do you know what? Every- one seems to be happy about it! 5- We lost a game to Agency. 8- Had two movies today. 9- We played Troy and lost. (What's the matter kids; need some Hadacol.) 10-Pictures were taken today of whole school. Look, Man, does that look like me? 11 12-Semester Tests. Be brave, kids. 15- Tests over. We can stop worrying now until the report cards come out. Be brave and face it. 16- E. H. S. had a visit from the state nurse today. Wash clean every- body. 17- Report cards today. (Just a friendly tip to the kids who were dis- appointed in their grades: Get busyl) 18- Wapello County Tournament at Ottumwa. Oh, dear, the boys lost. Better luck next time. 19- Seniors had their graduation pictures taken. ,23-Game with Donnellson. 24-Seniors got their proofs back. They are pretty good. 55
