Class Prophecy Time-1971 My Gosh! What a change has come over this big city of Eldon. Well why shouldn’t it become a thriving business and industrial city when the Class of 1951 were given a voice in affairs. Of course there are certain members of the Class of ‘51 who are now very popular people. For instance, the mayor is the former Lila Fane, who always did have a wonderful way of presiding over class meetings while in school. If some- one should ask the reason for a woman mayor in a large city like Eldon, it is that when the Class of ‘51 graduated there were sixteen girls and five boys. So the girls just decided to spread their dominating influence. In looking over the city, we find that it is one of the very important educational centers in the state. This is due to the fact that we had one of the most well-ed- ucated persons in the Class of '51. The present superintendent of the school is now Mr. Lawrence Auld, better known to his friends by the name of Professor . He is the man who built Eldon into the fine educational center it is today. To see the most beautiful and most modern group of grocery stores in Eldon and the rest of the state you would of course know that someone very successful should be the owner. Glenn Hughes, of course. Grocery stores have been in his line of work for years. His motto is: U Save on Our Yummie Yummie Goodies . Orlo Thomas has been appointed to help with the control of small vehicle ac- cidents in the city of Eldon, since he had ridden his bicycles to and from school for many a year. He is very successful in his position as the Director of Public Safety. On the side, as a hobby, Orlo is an important dog breeder of this state. The night spots in Eldon are very popular, especially with the former Shirlaw twins as entertainers on special nights. They both do have private lives and hob- bies. Both are married; Kaye designs new hair styles, while Maye is an instruc- tor of athletics in an all-women's organization named The Keep-Young-With Athletics Club . In the home-life group who have set up housekeeping as a full-time job there is the former Betty Northup, who changed her name to McClure about three months before graduation, Shirley Liles, who was fortunate enough to get a diamond while in school, and Margaurette Wilburn, who was married during the complete Senior year in school. She now has two boys and a girl. Betty has a boy and a girl, and Shirley has four children, two boys and two girls. Donna Curtis surely didn’t surprise us when she joined the WAC's and was married after two years of army life. Now she is at home with three children, ages: ten, twelve, and fourteen. To get the news on three or four of our classmates was difficult, as they were living in Illinois, Missouri, and even more distant places. Norma Osing left short- ly after graduation to go to Chicago, and there she stayed. Evelyn Thomas is somewhere in Missouri living the kind of leisure life she always wanted. She can afford to be leisurely about her doings; she married one of the richest men in the whole Middle West. With Lois Fite being the new singing star of the season, she is making quite a hit with a new recording of “Mv Million Loves. 27
