FR. GARY WITSKEN. holder of a B.A. in Philosophy from the Athenaeum of Ohio, returned to Elder as a Spanish teacher. A '60 Elder grad, he doubles as the chaplain of the baseball team. MR. RICHARD GROSSER teaches Span- ish I and is head of the Foreign Language department. He attended St. Xavier in 1965 and went to Thomas More where he received an A .B . in Spanish. MR. JOHN C. HUMMEL. head of Elder's English department, teaches senior English. Mr. Hummel, a '49 Elder grad, attended Notre Dame receiving an A.B. in Journalism and Psychology. He then went on to Law School for two years. Mr. Hummel began teaching at Elder in 1968. He enjoys fishing, fencing, water skiing, and making up war stories in his spare timeh MR. HEBAUF poses for a Schick razor blade ad . MR. MiCHAEL HEBAUF, a '65 grad of Elder is in his fifth year at Elder. He attended U.C. and received his B.S. in economics. Mr. Hebauf teaches sophomore English. and is interested in all sports, especially hunting, fishing, and motocross riding. MR. HUMMEL: I remember back in the big war . . . at Fort Dix peeling potatoes. MR. JERRY FEDERLE graduated from St. Gregory Seminary in 1964, and continued his education at Xavier. graduating in 1968. Mr. Federle has been at Elder since 1968, teaching sophomore and junior English, and coaching both baseball and football on the reserve level. MR. FEDERLE smiles for the wrong camera.

FR. DONALD RETTIG. a graduate of St. Gregory seminary, and later of the Athe- naeum, handles the German I, II and III classes. He holds an A . B. in Philosophy and a Master's in Divinity from the Athenaeum. and an M.Ed. in history from Xavier. Fr. Rettig has been at Elder since 1971 and has taken over the duties as moderator of the Alumni Association. FR. RETTIG: Ve have our vays of MR. ROSEN: Next time you say it, I'll put making you talk. you through the wall. MR. ROGER ROSEN, a 1967 Elder grad, is in his fourth year of teaching French I and 11. MI. Rosen received his degree in French at X. U. and continued his studies in France before returning to Elder, where he is mod- erator of the National Honor Society. MISS BRENDA COOMBS graduated from McAuley in 1969 and went on to the University of Cincinnati for a B . A . in English and a B. S. in Education. She is in her first year at Elder as an Instructional Reading Assistant. Miss Coombs' hobbies include camping, traveling, rafting, and unlike other faculty members. she enjoys sewing, crochetting, and macrame. MR. RICHTER: Wait till Meyer sees this MISS BRENDA COOMBS: Long and one. silky. MR. ROBERT RICHTER, a '65 Elder grad , teaches Speech to Sophomores and a special course in Film Study. He attended Xavier, where he earned a 3.8. in Physical Educa- tion. MI. Richter is the varsity wrestling coach, and also coaches freshman football. He enjoys all sports, and likes to play them in his spare time.
