BOARD OF PASTORS Twenty-nine parishes are represented at Elder, send- ing thirteen-hundred students to this venerable Price Hill institution. With the erection of the new LaSalle High School on North Bend Road, to be opened in the fall, at least three parishes will be cut off from the Elder district. To our Pastors, we owe deep gratitude for the generosity of their parishes in helping finance our secondary education and for their constant encourage- ment for scholastic achievement The Elder Welfare Association, over the years, has been mainly responsible for material improvements made throughout the school the financing of which is impossible from tuition funds alone The Welfare Association provides also a means of contact between parents and teachers for closer co- operation in the education of the Catholic Youth of the Western Hills area .1 I I - REV. ,LEONARD VONDVEYPBRINK : Board of Pastors President Officers of the Elder Welfare Association are: left to right, front row: Mrs. L. RELIGION DEPARTMENT RELIGION TEACHES us How ro uve Religion has traditionally been the most important subiect taught at Elder. On the Threshold of the 6O's, we look to our faith as an even more solid anchor in a violent, stormy, exciting, era. Material prosperity is accompanied by a lessening of interest in spiritual values. We hear expres- sions that morality is subiect to personal experience, Catholics are not permitted to think for themselves, the means iustifies the end. Our religion courses have taught us the precept of success -the possession of God's friendship. We enter the soaring sixties well versed in the truths of our faith and well disciplined in good moral habits. Our Religion course has taught us how to think for the 6O's. We were taught not only to use our God-given intellects, but to enrich those intellects with divinely inspired truth. l Ed Bierman assists Father Richard Hentz in an explanation of mass vestments and Chaliges, The football team
