Through eXtra-curricular activities, the journalist 0f the future can be- come very familiar With the profession he wishes to pursue. Working on the staff of the school paper, tiThe Purple Quill and the yearbook the ttElder- zidof proves most advantageous in instructing him in the fundamentals of newspaper work and in increasing his enthusiasm and interest. English and history classes, too, provide him with the basic tools he needs to carry on the work of this chosen profession. VVhen the deshe to be a doctor enters first the mind of the youth, is cthcult to say. Perhaps when studying the beauty of design in living organism pointed out and demonstrated in biology classes comes the first stirring of interest, the first half-formed resolution. Elder boasts of many, in its long list of graduates, who have successfully followed the medical profession.
