The candidates for King and Queen were as follows: Freshmen - Robert Vaught and Priscilla Moore, Sophomores - Carl Nicholson and Betty Ellerbrook, Juniors - Dave Sultz and Judy White, Seniors - Curtis Simpkins and Elaine Sharp. P.T.A. TEA AND SHOP DISPLAY - The tea and shop display was held on November 15, 1956. Mrs. Pumph- rey gave a book report. JUNIOR CLASS PLAY -- The Juniors presented their class play entitled, Take Your Medicine , on Novem- ber 9, 1956. BASKETBALL CROWNING - Joyce Miles was crowned basketball queen on January 18, 1957 at the Millers- burg-Elberfeld ball game. BASKETBALL BANQUET - The Sunshine Society gave a banquet for the basketball boys on March 19, 1957. SENIOR CLASS PLAY - The Seniors presented their class play, Grandad Steps Out , on April 9, 1957. BACCALAUREATE - The Baccalaureate Service was held on April 28, 1957. Rev. Barker was the speaker. JUNIOR AND SENIOR BANQUET - The Junior and Senior Banquet was held on May 2, 1957. COMMENCEMENT - The Commencement Exercises were held in the Elberfeld gymnasium on May 3, 1957. Rev. Carl Scherzer of Deaconess was the speaker. The Valedictorian Award was presented to Sylvia Goehlich and the Salutatorian Award was presented to Elaine Sharp.

za:-: ahe Hognet :-::-::-: :-: Senior Class History We entered E. H. S. in the year H53-54 with twenty Green Freshies . We were very happy to have Robert Simpkins and Lander Dorsey enter our class. Lander came to us from Lincoln High School in Evansville. These two entries made our class as follows: Ronald Blesch, Lander Dorsey, Marie Ellerbrook, Sylvia Goehlich, James Henson, Larry Holtz, Charles Houghton, Anna Kiegel, Bill Malone, LeMoin McKinney, Raymond Menke, Joyce Miles, Luann Nicholson, Norita Oster, Elaine Sharp, Curtis Simpkins, Robert Simpkins, Marjojrie Speers, Roger Struck, Downey Thene, James Turpin and Janet Welborn. We entered our Sophomore year with twenty-three Silly Sophomores . We lost James Henson and James Turpin during the summer months. We gained Charles Griffin, who came from Reitz in Evansville, and Clarence Barnett, who came from Millersburg High School. We were sorry to lose Marjorie Speers right after the school year started. This made our class have twenty members. We received our class rings December 17, 1954. As we entered our Junior year we had with us eight- een Jolly Juniors . During the summer we lost Clarence Barnett, Janet Welborn, who is now attending Bosse, and Rodger Strunk, who is attending Mechanic Arts in Evans- ville. On December 6, 1955 we received our class sweaters and jackets. We presented our class play on November 29th, which was entitled M'liss . So we end our Junior year with fifteen members. We began our Senior year with fifteen Dignified Seniors . Having lost Bill Malone, who quit school, we end our Senior year with the following students: Ronald Blesch, Lander Dorsey, Marie Ellerbrook, Sylvia Goehlich, Larry Holtz, Kathleen Horn, Anna Mae Kiegel, LeMoin McKinney, Raymond Menke, Joyce Miles, Luann Nicholson, Norita Oster, Elaine Sharp, Curtis Simpkins. o

Mr. Tyring, we will you the right to have two more wheels next year. Mr. Heilman, we will you the right to have the audi- ence you deserve. Mr. Whitehead, we will you the right to have another excellent ball player like Larry. Mr. Armstrong, we will you the right to have a smoke- stack installed in your car. Mrs. Bertram, We will you the right to get ahead of the hounds. Mrs. Siebe, We will you the right to have a water foun- tain erected in your study hall. Miss Hebbeler, we will you the right to get the MRS degree. Juniors, we will you the right to have a better attitude next year. Sophomores, we will you the right to cut the Brain's grades down. Freshmen, we will you the right, for when you are Seniors, not to have to clean up the guys you initiate. Ronald Blesch - I will my right to kiss the basketball queen to Socky , my right to be a Marine Reservist to any guy that's man enough, and my ability to not drink alco- holics to Bennie Menke. Lander Dorsey -- I will my ability to make A's and B's in government class to Dave Sultz. Marie Ellerbrook - I will my right to be crowned Fall Festival Queen in my Sophomore year to Gloria Jean Smith, and my right to get a diamond ring in my ,Senior year to Mary Ann Susott. KContinuedl
