October 7, 1988, was a day full of spirit and excitement for the students of Elba High School. Spirits had been building all week long in preparation for the Homecoming Day festivities. On Friday the students of EHS were proud to present their Homecoming Queen 1988, Miss Melissa Johnson and her court at the Coronation that afternoon. Melissa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Johnson. She was escorted by Brett Bryan. The Homecoming parade is an EHS tradition that the entire town seems to enjoy. The students and community worked diligently all week to prepare a float that showed their school spirit. The parade also consisted of entries representing clubs from the high school. Many beauty pageant winners added a little color, as well as pretty smiling faces to the parade route. The queen and her court rode on a float prepared by the senior class for their lovely queen. 4 16
