Anticipation! Spirit! — These feelings were among many ex- pressed during Homecoming 1985. The traditional Thursday night bon- fire, which was hosted by the varsity cheerleaders, caused enthusiasm to grow and spirits to soar. Thursday night's fes- tivities concluded with a street jam held on the square, which was enjoyed by ev- eryone. Homecoming 1985 climaxed on Friday afternoon, October 18, as the Elba City Schools assembled in Leroy Miller Me- morial Stadium for the coronation of the queen and her court, which consisted of: Betty Ann Cole, senior attendant; Danon Lowrey, junior attendant; Beth Hender- son, sophomore attendant; Kim McBride, black attendant; Wendy Moul- ton, freshman attendant; and the 1985 Homecoming Queen — Debbie Blair. Debbie was crowned by Art Brunson, president of the Student Council. The enthusiastic student body then partici- pated in the traditional pep rally held on the football field. The festivities of the day continued with the Homecoming parade. The hon- ored entries were the Class of 1955 and the queen and her court. Friday evening's activities began with the presentation of the queen and her court amid field in a pregame ceremony. The Elba Tigers emerged victorious over the Charles Henderson High Trojans 16- 10. The Homecoming dance concluded a week full of memorable events to be trea- sured for a lifetime. eo aa Ae iv ‘ ie a . . BAT het {). . F M. The audience was captiviated by the enthusi- asm and loveliness of the “Southern Beauties” as they per- formed the House Production. MARCHING ee end ar fo eer Abajdidbalala ill BAND COUNCIL Band Director Danny Davis Picture one hundred four high school stu- dents, whose ages vary from thirteen to eigh- teen, all having totally different backgrounds and abilities, wanting and striving for the same exact thing — PERFECTION! All that preparation was needed because the Marching Tigers went on to perform in a total of fourteen halftimes to help cheer on the Elba football team all the way to the State Final. All the pain and determination really paid off when it was announced at the “Heart of Dixie” Marching Band Festival in Prattville that the Marching Band had received all around superior ratings and Best in Class. At Enterprise in the Southland Band Classic, the marchers proved themselves once again by earning all superior ratings. The drum major, Shellye Amison, and the majorettes were awarded Best in Class honors. The year ended in a blaze of glory when the Marching Tigers in the “Emerald Coast Marching Band Festi- val” at Ft. Walton Beach made superior rat- ings. At all three contests the inexperienced drum line went against all odds to receive ex- cellent ratings. The 1985 marching season proved true once again the Elba Marching Ti- gers’ motto: PRIDE is the source of all suc- cesses. To celebrate their accomplishments, the band members and their guests went “wild” at the annual Band Dance to the theme “A Night in the Jungle.” Drum Major Shellye Amison MAJORETTES Feature Twirler Lucinda Byrd £5 ea tee oS DP MT A Danett Boggan; Tawana Nelson; Kim Kelley, Head Majorette; Debbie Blair. The joyous times during which we celebrated our accomplish- ments have made us reluctant to leave our friends. However, the hardships and struggles which have tested our courage and desires have made us more eager to encounter new challenges. Now, the time for us to depart has arrived, and we are prepared to enter the world, knowing we have acquired the knowledge and determination needed to become successful. JOSTENS i Yq a
