HOMECOMING ’80 Homecoming at Elba High School was and always will be a memorable event in the lives of the student body. Despite the past years of rain and gloomy weather, the day was just right for our annual home- coming. Selected by their fellow classmates, Sherrie, Gloria, Beverly, Molley, Rita, and Stephanie brought forth beau- ty and excitement as the Queen and her court for 1980- 81. Despite the de- termination, ef- fort, and a win- ning attitude, the Elba Tigers’ quest for victory was not enough for the Ashford Yellowjackets. But the pride and determination will always be evident in a real winner. After the ballgame, a disco dance brought a memorable end to Homecoming 1980-81. Ss CAMPUS BEAUTY Rita Coon The excitement of Christmas and the pageant was in the air as forty-eight lovely young ladies paraded across the stage. After presentation in formal attire and a production number present- ed by the contestants themselves, lovely Miss Rita Coon was crowned Campus Beauty, 1980- 1981. Selling T-shirts, terrible tiger towels, and having a clinic for future cheerleaders were just a few of their fund raising projects. One of the hardest weeks of a cheerleaders life has to be the week of ICF clinic, because these cheerleaders came home moaning and groaning. The clinic must have helped because they received four ribbons: Most Improved, Super Spirit, Overall Excellence, and Sparkle and Shine. Even though this year’s cheerleaders worked hard and did good, next years must strive to work harder and do better. MRS. CHARLES P. HAYES III David Dorsey Bobby English Each of our years has been a distinct unit in an element of time, and the pictorial history of school life in the Elba City Schools as preserved in the 1981 Elbala has given credence to this fact. The creation of the ’81 yearbook has been a developmental process very much as our educational experiences have been. The publication began to take form with the pressing of time-much as our attainment of knowledges and skills, modifications in behavior and personality, and aquisition of friendships. Now that our journalism efforts have been spent, we have recognized that we have acquired a strong foundation on which to build through the rest of our lives. We have accepted, also, that more will be added to this foundation that will make each of us different and, thereby, will enable us to travel our different paths. These paths can lead us into moments of great triumphs or disillusioning adversities. However regardless of the greatest achievemnts or heart-rending disappointments, all of us during our years of hopes and dreams in Elba High School. ’ will have the strengths of the building blocks cemented
